The Irpen Literary Prize will be a powerful start for new names, - the chairman of NSPU

Mykhailo Sydorzhevsky, Chairman of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, praised the Irpen Literary Prize, which is one of the three literary prizes in Ukraine in terms of monetary rewards.

“Irpin is a city that has undoubtedly entered the history of Ukrainian red literature. No Ukrainian city, except Irpen, has so many writing objects at the same time. Classics of modern Ukrainian literature lived and worked here, in the House of Writers, which has been functioning for decades: Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Ostap Vyshnya, Pavlo Tychyna, Mykola Bazhan, Mykhailo Stelmakh, Maksym Rylsky, Oles Honchar, Pavlo Zagrebelny. And recently, a beautiful Writers' Park was opened for residents and guests of the city, which houses a monument to the Writer and wooden sculptures of Readers. And so Irpen opened another writing tradition, establishing the Irpen Literary Prize. In times of cuts in cultural spending, this initiative is a bold challenge for those who traditionally "save on culture." I hope that this award will be a powerful start for many new names in Ukrainian Literature, ”said Mykhailo Sydorzhevsky.

Irpen Literary Prize is an annual all-Ukrainian prize in the field of literature, founded in 2020 by the Brave Society and the Irpen Investment Council. The task of the award is to find new authors in order to motivate them to further creativity. The award has three nominations: prose, poetry and a special award for children's literature (it was in Irpen that the writer, author of "The Adventures of the Stranger" Mykola Nosov lived). Previously unpublished manuscripts of authors who have not yet published a single book but have published their works in collective collections or anthologies are accepted for consideration by the jury. The age and geography of the applicants for the award is unlimited. The subject of the works and their volume are free.

Three winners of the Irpen Literary Prize - winners in the nominations "Prose", "Poetry" and "Literature for Children" - receive 50 thousand UAH each. In addition, LLC "Brave" has set an additional incentive premium of 10 thousand UAH. That is, the total prize fund of the Irpen Literary Prize is UAH 160,000.
